There’s no denying it. We are living in very strange times. Covid-19 aka Coronavirus is affecting us all. As we slowly begin to adapt to this new normal, we need to find ways of keeping creative.
So with that in mind we thought it would be a great idea to share with you 5 talented creatives that are sharing their skills and knowledge through online art classes…
KORP
Ever wondered how some artists create their unique style? Well legendary urban artist KORP is offering 4 weekly online art classes via his website.
For just £20 a month you’ll get the chance to following him live through his weekly ‘doodle clubs’. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert you’re sure to pick up some great tips.
KORP is a legend of the urban art scene and was an early member of the hugely successful ‘FREE ART FRIDAY’ set up by My Dog Sighs. His detailed stencil and marker pen work has adorned walls throughout the UK and now you can learn to develop your skills alongside the man himself.
We think it’s fair to say, Emelie loves colour. Well that and pop culture. Her Superhero based ‘Empowered’ paintings are visually striking, thought provoking… and highly sought after.
Working from her studio in Wiltshire, Emelie has developed a wonderful visual language through colour and layering, and she’s now offering an insight into her technique through weekly video tutorials.
You can follow her via her Facebook page and new YouTube channel.
This next one is a little different, in that it’s not an online class as such. What it is, is a new series on Channel 4 hosted by Turner prize award winning artist Grayson Perry. Entitled ‘Grayson’s Art Club’, each week Perry will hopefully inspire and educate viewers, encouraging us to pick up a paint brush and get creative.

The programme specially created for these times of ‘lockdown’ aims to showcase viewers work and their experiences during isolation.
As of writing this, there is no start date released but as soon as we know we will add it to this article.
The likelihood is you’ve seen Roy’s amazing work before. His imaginative ‘Roy’s People’ caught the attention of millions sending them viral via social media.

Since then Roy, and fellow artist Sam Peacock went on to set up ‘Roy’s Art Fair’, an amazing biannual fair that allows artists to showcase their work, and it’s under this that they’ve recently launched ‘Roy’s Art Club’. Although not a tutorial, it’s still designed to get people’s creative juices flowing and this time it’s aimed at kids up to the age of 16.
All you need to do is create your masterpiece, upload it to Instagram with the hashtag roysartclub and every Friday around 3.30pm a winner will be picked.
The final one in our list is also aimed at keeping kids creative. Emmylou is a fantastic artist; one we have had the pleasure of exhibiting with in the past. Her work is full of expression and passion and it’s that passion for creativity that shines through in her online art classes via YouTube.
To get involved, simply head over the Emmylou’s Fine Art Workshops on YouTube where she will be continually uploading her art classes. Whether you want to draw a Polar Bear, a Lobster or even Van Gogh’s famous Sunflowers, Emmylou shows you in simple step by step detail.
During these times of isolation, it’s important to keep the mind active, and we believe there is no better solution than to pick up a paint brush or pencil.
That wonderful feeling of seeing something come to life, to then sit back and look at the finished work with a sense of pride whilst thinking ‘I made that’ will only encourage you to create more and more.
