Last week we wrote about an amazing art auction taking place on Facebook to help raise funds for those affected by the war in Ukraine. Well this week we have another exciting creative event called ‘Kiss My Art’ hoping to raise much needed funds for the Ukrainian crisis…
London’s live painting competition Kiss My Art, a collaboration with London Drawing, returns to Basing House, Shoreditch on 31st March for their almighty “Make Art Not War” instalment – in aid of the Ukraine crisis. Paintings will be auctioned at the end of night with proceeds going to the Red Cross emergency fund.
The unique event boasts a line-up of 10 diverse artists who will take over the venue in the heart of Shoreditch, to brush it out in two rounds of life drawing where the audience decides who wins the “Golden Paintbrush Award” plus a goody bag of arty supplies from Great Art.
If you’ve been lucky enough to attend previous Kiss My Art sessions then you know it’s not your average night out, the underground event is fast becoming popular within the arty scene since its inception in 2016.
Kiss My Art is the brainchild of Carlotta Allum, whom after attending a similar event in Manchester, went on to win her very own Golden Paintbrush presented by Bez of the Happy Mondays, this in turn inspired her to launch London’s version with a life drawing twist to entertain the community, by creating art and supporting much needed causes in the process through the power of the arts.
Kiss My Art then evolved into a creative initiative between likeminded art souls in the industry from pop artists, life models and art house performers. The event encourages everyone from all genres to immerse themselves within the arts & culture platform, with the organisers priding themselves in celebrating all levels of talent and backgrounds. So whether you’re a professional or emerging artist, you will have the opportunity to thrive, whilst competing against other talent in a safe and vibrant environment for the coveted Golden Paintbrush Award.
As well as the life drawing competition, there will also be a variety of performances from comedians, DJs and spoken word artists and all for just £7 for advanced tickets or £10 on the door.
Kiss My Art – in aid of Ukraine ‘make art not war’ fundraiser takes place on Thursday 31st March from 7pm – 12 am at Basing House, 25 Kingsland Rd, Shoreditch, London, EC2 8AA
