London-based Indie Matharu is one of those artists that proves you don’t need vast amounts of expensive equipment to create incredible work… just the humble pencil will do.
Her attention to detail and skill results in stunning photorealistic drawings, predominantly portraits. As Indie explains…
“Faces are fascinating to draw. I have always been an ‘observer’ the quiet one in the room, people watching. Facial expressions are endless and can portray so many different emotions. I learnt early on that a smile isn’t necessarily depicting happiness. I very rarely use colour in my pieces. I don’t feel it is needed to capture warmth or coldness, light and dark. The humble graphite pencil works perfectly well for me.”
Indie’s years of experience and dedication to her craft has gained her a justified reputation as a highly skilled artist. Her mainly monochrome work is bought from admirers all over the world. She has been part of the UK art scene for many years and we are thrilled to offer some of her artworks on CreativeFolk.
