CloseJames Ellis is a contemporary abstract artist based in Rutland, UK. Working with collage, he creates colourful compositions from meticulously arranged paper. The fantastic, imaginary world that unfolds in his work allows the viewer to be transported and to gain new perspectives.
James completed a BA in Fashion Design in Paris before making his way into the art world, where he found a place to share not only utilitarian design but ideas, concepts and more importantly feelings.
His recent collage artworks have earned him an Artist Development Bursary from The Collection and Usher Gallery and selection for the ‘Red + Green = Yellow’ experimental exhibition at The NewBridge Gallery, Manchester’s ‘Paper Festival’ and the ‘Open 31’ at the Leicester Museum & Art Gallery.
Working from home next to Rutland Water, the influence and balance of nature can always be found in his work.
